James, our Managing Director, is an investment management specialist and founding shareholder.
He’s previously worked at Granville and Co, (where he participated in an MBO), Capel Cure Myers (now Barclays Wealth), and Grant Thornton. He holds an honours degree in Economics from the Queen Mary and Westfield College, University Of London, has an Investment Management Certificate from the CFA and a Diploma in Financial Planning from the CII.
Rachel joined us in 2009 after ten years in the financial industry. She now coordinates our financial planning team. Rachel became a regulated adviser in 2011, is a member of the Institute of Financial Services (IFS) and holds qualifications from the CII, IFS and CFA Institute.
Joel qualified as a Certified accountant in 1994. Since then, he has spent most of his career working in corporate and family wealth management. Joel joined us in 2014.
Ian Smith LL.B (Hons), Dip LP (Distinction)
Ian has over 20 years’ experience qualifying as a solicitor in 1996. He completed his Post Graduate Diploma in Law and Legal Practice Course at the Chester branch of the College of Law (now the University of Law) with distinction.
He is an affiliate member of The Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) and has completed several professional development qualifications with them.
He has previously held positions as a partner within a Northern legal private practice and was an associate within a large commercial and corporate private practice law firm with offices in the North East. He was also the in-house legal counsel for a large privately owned company. He undertakes a mixture of non-contentious commercial, corporate, property and private client work.
Tricia has an IFS qualification for Financial Advisers having been in the financial industry since 2001. She has previously worked for AIG, Zurich and MetLife as a Business Development Manager.
Claire has worked in financial services since 1997, and has worked with us since we launched. She now manages our Investments Team. Claire holds qualifications with the CII and CISI.
Alison joined us in 2008, having worked in financial services since 2000. She is responsible for our systems, software and accounts. Alison has a full Financial Planning Certificate.
James is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment and a Chartered Wealth Manager. He has worked in wealth management since June 2000 and has extensive experience managing private client portfolios on both a Discretionary & Advisory basis.
Lizzy has a background in the not for profit sector, having worked in both family offices, charities and government. She works with families supporting a breadth of planning areas. She specialises in philanthropic planning and Sustainable Responsible Impact (SRI) investing.
Martin qualified as a solicitor in 1994 after studying at Manchester University, completing his Law Society Finals exams at Manchester Polytechnic and completing his training contract at a city centre Manchester legal practice. He has specialised in family law throughout his career and has practised in leading city centre Manchester firms throughout his career. His experience covers all aspects of family related matters but predominantly dealing with matrimonial finance issues on separation or pre-nuptial/ post-nuptial agreements. Martin has also extensive experience in dealing with disputes over arrangements for the care of children. This experience ranges from international child abduction cases and applications for the relocation of children overseas through to disputes over day to care arrangements. During his career Martin has been a member of the Law Society’s Children Panel.
Martin’s client base has historically seen him advising in relation to complex business and family structures. He has also represented many clients with high public profile because of their careers in the music or sporting industries.
Martin’s advisory role at LCM Family will see him assisting our existing client families and supporting them where their needs require the instruction of external legal advice.
